Stop pushing buttons and start pushing boundaries

Thursday, March 4th, 2010 by nicole

My friend said he just saw this on a billboard in San Francisco and I love it.

Speaking of boundaries, every morning I see an orchid that I have in my bathroom. This orchid is on it’s 5th year of life. If I understand correctly, you can tell the plant’s age by the number of leaves. Or the leaves it had last month.

I’ve somehow managed to keep this orchid alive for the last 2 years. Unfortunately, the orchid has had to shed parts of itself to keep on living. It tried to push it’s boundaries. It grew and grew. Yet it could only grow so much because of the container it sat in. I never got around to transplanting it (equal parts fear and laziness) and so it had to drop two of its leaves to continue living within its confines.

I know there’s some metaphor here and I’m not sure what it is. I can see it both ways. I keep thinking that I’ve had to change myself to keep growing and moving forward. I can see that I’ve stunted myself to stay in relationships that didn’t work. I can see that letting go and shedding the old works. I can also see that sometimes we’re forced to limit ourselves to work within the boundaries we’ve self imposed.

What do you think?

In Simplicity, There Is Truth

Here’s a quote that Kristen, our designer sent me the other day that I love.

Had to share:

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” ~ Unknown

Travel Shift Style

Thursday, December 18th, 2008 by nicole

If I had a dollar for every time my mom told me to become a travel agent…

Well, now Shift has joined World Ventures to offer travel at a discount.

Travel agents used to control access to the products and services provided by
suppliers—airlines, car rental companies, hotels, cruise lines, resorts, and the like. But the
Internet has revolutionized travel, and consumers—driven primarily by price—now can do
their own shopping, and they have bypassed the travel agent middlemen. Consequently,
the storefront travel agency has been reduced from 60,000 to fewer than 6,000 in the U.S.
The future of the travel industry is clear: the Internet.

The superiority of word-of-mouth advertising in Internet marketing has been well
documented since the beginning of the dot com days by Jupiter Research and elsewhere.
WorldVentures believes that Network Marketing is the best form of word-of-mouth
advertising and is the perfect distribution model to expand our business.

This is an aggregator that makes it easy to find the best deals. There’s also a cool thing called DreamTrips if you want to get a great deal on a dream vacation. Plus, you can do this too.

So, if you want to look for travel click here.

If you want to learn more about our partnership click here.

and if you want to start your own travel business and see how you can participate in the game called travel click here.

I LOVE TRAVELING!!!

Here I am with my Mom in front of the Great Wall of China last month!

Nicole Casanova
October 29, 2008
About seven years ago I decided to walk away from my fancy corporate job to do something of more purpose. Up until that point, I was pretty sure that I was just “Victim Of The World.” Then I was introduced to A Course in Miracles and numerous other universal principles that all said the same thing- that I was in control. For the first time ever, I learned that my thoughts created my reality and that what I felt internally was exactly what showed up for me externally.

I decided to make it my mission to create a tool that explained just that and was accessible to the masses. It showed up as a board game. Yeah, it surprised me too. Yet, because it was experiential, people were willing to step out of their comfort zones and start seeing what was driving them. I quit that job in 2001 and have been working towards Shift’s mission, to remind as many people as possible that we are love and loved, ever since. Playing the game in my daily life and remembering to choose love in every moment has turned out to be the ultimate exercise in working my mental muscles.

I’ve been playing at shifting the game and have certainly had my opportunities to feel like the game was playing me. And now, I’m starting to play my hand a very different way by stepping into a whole new level of trust and letting go. Every day I’m reminded that one small shift in thought can shift my life. What do you think? Can a game change your life?

Shift is a psychological game, in the sense that we, through self-examination and laughter, can begin to understand where our thoughts are coming from and the power they hold. In fact, we have no neutral thoughts. All of our thoughts come from love or fear and once we are able to recognize where our thoughts come from, we can further understand where our thoughts are taking us.

The point of the game is to move from fear to love, and drop your defenses. Our defenses are what we do, not what we are: it’s just our behavior. In order to drop our defenses, we must be able to recognize when we have acted as those defenses, and, when we have not. This, in turn, can show us why we use those defenses, and why we don’t need to at all.

The reason I created this game is simple. I want to remind you that you can control your thoughts once you are aware of what you are thinking. What you believe is exactly what you will experience. If after playing this game, you start seeing where your thoughts are coming from then we all win. And, if you can actually change those thoughts that hold you back, can you imagine what we will be able to shift?

Shift, The Online Game

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007 by admin

Would you like to play Shift with your friends, family or co-workers that aren’t in the same city? Would you like to connect with new people and play with them? Or, would you like to play Shift and have a coach facilitate your play? It’s all possible and it’s coming.

Shift’s purpose is to remind each and every one of us that we are love and loved. What better way to do that than by utilizing the power of the internet. Oooh baby, this is going to be fun.

All of us already have our own best answers and we learn when we acknowledge our reactions or, more importantly, our responses to situations. Our learning is mutliplied exponentially when we see how other people may have responded to a similar situtation. It is through this connection and communcation that we gain one more tool to remind us that we are whole and complete. The Shift experience based in a community that is committed to operating from love.

All a shift requires, whether it’s your own internal shift or a global shift, is a little bit of willingness to see things differently. We see the opportunity for us to create more connections and build more understanding of our innate connectedness. We trust the opportunity is here to design an experience that reminds us all that one small shift in thought can truly shift your life.

We are currently seeking investors and are very open to conversations with potential partners and spiritual angels. We are willing to receive. We are certain of the outcome.

To inquire about investor opportunities, please contact Nicole Casanova at 303-530-0787 or write to investor AT shiftthegame.com.

Shift Game Night at The Reader’s Cove, Ft. Collins
Date & Time: Wednesday, October 3, 2007, 6:30 PM
Location: The Reader’s Cove, 1001 E Harmony Rd Fort Collins, CO

Come play Shift, the board game that shows us why we do what we do.
Where The Secret says our thoughts create our reality, Shift actually shows us what our thoughts are. It exposes our patterns and we get to see why we keep attracting the same situations. Shift shows us that one small shift in thought can shift your life.

The Shift Game Night is an opportunity where you can share your stories and successes and create connections from the heart.

What we heard at the last Shift Circle: “This is so cool! To play with others where there is no judgment and I feel safe.” “Watch out Bunko.” “This is such a great way to put The Secret into practice.” “Thank you Shift for supporting me in understanding myself and other people better.”

Here’s the format for the evening:
6:30-6:45 Network and meet like-minded, amazing people ready to make shifts in their lives and their communities…
6:45-7:00 Intro to Shift and How to Play
7:00-8:00 Play Shift!
8:00 Debrief on what showed up. This is the best part… it’s where we get to see how each of us supports each other through the examples we share.

This is a free event and an opportunity to play Shift. This Shift Circle will take place on Wednesday Oct. 3rd at 6:30 pm.

Shift Happens. Watch this video and decide what student you want to be…

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 by guest

Wow- I’m blown away. Larry and Patty Wilson just forwarded us an amazing link that prepares for the future. The Wilson Collaborative often talks about Innovative Learning rather than Maintenance Learning in their corporate training porgrams and I think the message is clear. For us to be fulfilled, meaning being more than successful- being happy, joyous, energized and passionate about what we’re doing on this planet, we really need to integrate more methods of learning than we were given.

This is one reason why Shift is so powerful. Yes it is a game and yes all of the elements are experiential. Yes interactive learning is the number one way to ground any lesson. And, beyond our methodology for teaching, I think the subject matter is the ultimate course of study. Shift allows us to learn about ourselves and see what makes us tick. It does more than expose the way we show up in every relationship whether it’s with time, money, our friends, family or lovers. Shift shows us how we show up for ourselves. In this fast forward world of communication and virtual connectedness, our making time to check in internally and acknowledge our highest Selves, will provide us the opportunity to operate from a place of love and that, my firends, will prove more powerful for creating connection than any MySpace ever could.
