My company's chairman got involved with the process, and paid for us to bring in a conscious lawyer to facilitate a process of a new contract.

What did you ask for? : A kinder, better employment contract that the one my company first offered, which was full of adversarial language and provisions that benefitted the company at the employee's expense.

What did you receive? : My company's chairman got involved with the process, and paid for us to bring in a conscious lawyer to facilitate a process of a new contract in plain English that's more about wins-for-all and mutual interests.

How did you feel? Did you believe it was already there? Did you allow it to show up?: At first it was really hard to imagine taking a stand here, asking for something so out of the ordinary. I didn't feel worthy and I hated to "be difficult." But now I'm proud of myself for taking a stand in the face of opposition and fear in a way that will benefit all of us in the long term.
