Even though my mom didn't approve of me being gay, she accepted my new wife with open arms.

What did you ask for? : To have support from my family when I married my girlfriend.

What did you receive?: My mom was more supportive than I thought she would be. She didn't approve of my being gay but she knew that I really loved Rachel. Not only did she accept her as my soon to be wife, she brought her into the rest of our extended family and even helped us with the wedding.

How did it feel? Did you believe it was already there? Did you allow it to show up?: I never expected my mom to help me make my girlfriend my wife. That was a discussion we avoided in the past but I knew that we were meant to be and that there was a place for all of us to be a family.  Instead of focusing on what had happened in the past, I allowed it to show up by accepting her help and being supportive in her experience of it as well.  I felt united with my family in a way I'd never imagined before.
